Privacy Policy for Save Anything
Last Updated: September 3, 2026
Save Anything is a Chrome browser extension that helps users save and organize webpages, links, images, selected text, and screenshots while browsing.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension handles, how it is stored, and how it is used.
1. Information the Extension Handles
When you use the Extension, you may choose to save information from webpages, including:
- Webpage titles and URLs
- Selected text
- Links selected by the user
- Image URLs and images saved through the Extension
- Screenshots captured through the Extension
- Folder names
- Tags associated with saved items
The Extension only handles this information when you use its features to save or organize it.
2. How Your Information Is Used
The information handled by the Extension is used solely to provide its functionality, including:
- Saving webpages, links, images, selected text, and screenshots
- Organizing saved items into folders
- Adding and managing tags
- Searching and displaying saved items
- Importing previously exported Extension data
- Exporting your saved data for backup or transfer
- Opening saved webpages and links when requested by you
The Extension does not use your saved information for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
3. Local Storage
The Extension uses Chrome's "chrome.storage.local" API to store your saved content and organizational information.
This may include saved URLs, titles, selected text, image information, screenshots, folders, and tags.
This information is stored locally in your browser's extension storage and is not intentionally transmitted to a server operated by the developer.
4. Webpage and Tab Access
The Extension uses Chrome's "activeTab" permission to access the currently active tab when you explicitly use features that require access to the current webpage, such as saving the current page or capturing a screenshot.
The Extension does not continuously monitor your browsing activity.
The Extension does not intentionally collect your complete browsing history.
5. Context Menu
The Extension uses Chrome's context menu functionality to provide user-initiated options for saving webpages, links, images, and selected content.
These actions occur when you explicitly select one of the Extension's context-menu options.
6. Screenshots
When you use the Extension to save a webpage or link, the Extension automatically captures a screenshot of the visible content of the active browser tab. The screenshot is used to provide a visual preview of the saved item, allowing you to identify your saved content without relying only on its URL or title.
The screenshot is stored locally as part of the saved item through the Extension's browser storage and is not intentionally uploaded to a developer-controlled server or shared with third parties.
The screenshot capture occurs as part of your user-initiated save action. The Extension does not continuously capture screenshots or monitor your screen in the background.
You should avoid saving webpages that contain information you do not want stored in your browser's Extension data.
7. Data Sharing
The Extension does not sell, rent, or share your saved information with third parties.
The Extension does not intentionally transmit your saved content to third-party services.
The Extension does not contain third-party advertising or analytics services.
8. Personal Information
The Extension does not require you to create an account and does not require you to provide your name, email address, telephone number, password, payment information, or other personal account information.
The Extension does not intentionally collect personally identifiable information from users.
However, information that you choose to save from a webpage such as selected text or a screenshot may itself contain personal information. Such information remains under your control as part of the data you choose to save.
9. Import and Export
The Extension allows you to export your saved data and import previously exported data.
Exported files are created at your request and are controlled by you.
When importing data, the Extension validates the imported data before using it to update the Extension's stored information.
You should only import files from sources you trust.
10. Data Security
The Extension is designed to minimize data exposure by keeping saved information in local browser storage rather than transmitting it to a developer-controlled server.
However, no software or storage mechanism can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and browser.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
Your saved information remains in the Extension's local storage until you delete it or otherwise clear the Extension's stored data.
You can delete individual saved items through the Extension.
You can also remove the Extension or clear its stored browser data, which may remove locally stored Extension information.
Because the Extension does not maintain a remote copy of your saved data, the developer cannot recover locally stored information after it has been deleted.
12. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not specifically directed toward children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the Extension or its privacy practices.
Any updated version will include a revised "Last Updated" date.
